Poplar Creek Golf Course
will host the Seventh Annual Twilight Golf League this
year. The league features 6-player teams that play on
Wednesday or Thursday nights from May 20th thru July
16th. All teams will tee off each week with a 5:30pm
shotgun start.
This year players may register on-line or in person in
the pro shop. There is a $25 registration fee for each
player and players pay a $20 green fee each time they
play in a match.
Teams compete in
nine-hole medal play matches for the first seven weeks
and a season finale tournament on the eighth week.
Prizes for the 1st and 2nd place teams, as well as
prizes in individual categories, will be awarded at
the banquet following the finale tournament.
All six team members play each match and the four
lowest total net scores are used to determine the team
total for the match. A team may play a match with as
few as four players (i.e. some team members on
vacation), in which case all scores are counted in the
team total. The team with the lowest total net score
wins the match. In addition to the team competition,
players also compete in an individual competition. The
league is open to all players with an NCGA or PWGA
handicap.
The season finale awards dinner is included in the
entry fee. Players are encouraged to sign up as a
team, however, single player entries (together with a
$25 entry fee) will be accepted and placed on a
standby list. The standby list players will be added
to teams that have less than six players or may be
grouped to form a new team if space is available.
The league is a great way to socialize with friends in
a competitive, but friendly environment. For more
